What's New in IP 2024

At Geoactive, we never rest on our laurels. With two decades of continuous software enhancements, our commitment to excellence remains unwavering. This year’s latest version of Interactive Petrophysics (IP) boasts substantial performance and usability improvements that benefit all our users. Additionally, we’ve developed new workflows to facilitate the transition to alternative subsurface industries, this is complemented by enhancements to our most popular existing modules. IP is now better than ever—refined, robust, and ready to meet the future.

Improved Performance

Work more effectively with large data sets


Loading, Saving and Processing of large datasets is now up to 4 times faster than the previous version of IP. This is great new for those who work with large databases consisting of hundreds or even thousands of wells.

Everyday Tasks Made Easier


With the latest version of Interactive Petrophysics, a selection of small tasks used every day have been improved. These include the ability to save logplot track styles, a utility to update the working sets of multiple wells quickly, and a new way of easily importing and exporting compressed well files from IP.

Streamline Your Machine Learning Workflows


The Machine Learning menu has been redesigned to help you streamline your machine learning process. All the way from data preparation to prediction. Additionally, Experienced Eye is an exciting new module which automates the time consuming, manual task of trial and error when you're attempting to optimize the best selection of inputs and algorithms for your dataset.

Better for Alternative Subsurface Terrains


With the changing industry focus to alternatives, we have added new features for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) workflows. These include a new module for calculating CO2 storage capacity, new fluid property calculations, and an update to the Cut-Off & Summation module to account for CO2.

New Integrations with External Services


In the latest version of Interactive Petrophysics, a new connection to transfer data securely between IP and Open Subsurface Data Universe (OSDU) repositories has been created alongside our partner company, Petrosys. This initial version allows curve data and formation tops to be easily transferred between the databases.

Further Enhanced Workflows


As always we continue to develop and improve our existing IP modules. In this latest version we've upgraded a number modules including Image Analysis, Saturation Height Modelling, Cement Evaluation, Pulsed Neutron, Gas Analysis,  and we've also made improvements to IP’s Python utilities.
